Finally, My Intro

Wednesday, April 1, 2009

After reading several milblogs (military blogs) for months, becoming completely addicted to their content and gaining a connection to their writers, I felt like I should write about my own experiences of being in a military relationship.

Most of the blogs that I read are married women and not like that's bad or anything but I can't understand what it is like to have children or to take care of a house or bills or all that other wonderful stuff that comes with marriage.

I'm just a college student trying to get good grades, not overburden myself with all the crazy extracurricular activities that I love to do, and try to make some money as a waitress.

I've been writing blogs for a while, but I have never really felt completely connected to any of them. Maybe my photo blog, but after quitting my university newspaper because the editors didn't know what they were doing, that one pretty much died. I also feel like there is a true community among the blogs that I read and I would really love to add to that.

So maybe a little bit about me (and just a little, for right now...): As I wrote earlier, I'm a college student, and I am majoring in Journalism and going for a minor in Political Science. I'm a COMPLETE NEWS JUNKIE! I'll read pretty much anything, but my main interests are in the Middle East (this was even before I met my boyfriend), Op-Eds, features and conflicts. I planned on being a photojournalist when I entered college, but I'm now looking at being a documentary/feature photographer or maybe a news/political science analyst. I'm not really into photographing kittens in trees, people celebrating their 100th birthday, or any of the silly, soft stories that local newspapers cover. I'm into exploring the world, capturing it through a lens, and writing about it. We'll see what happens.

O yeah! And about my relationship with my incredible boyfriend (which this blog is primarily about, haha!). As of today, we have been together for almost 10 months, and although it has been a struggle at times, we are still going strong and looking forward to another amazing 10 months and hopefully more after that! We met at a banquet and I promise I'll talk more about it on our 1 year anniversary ^_~.

So thanks for reading my first post! I'm going to change the layout in the future, I promise. I'm going to see if I can get it custom made and make it all pretty, haha!

the milblog community is fabulous...i love it! And don't discount the fact that you are a girlfriend and not a wife. You get stood up for dates and pushed around just like the rest of us...You just have the opportunity to bail! Haha!
